How to Source Packaging Through SurePack: The 7-Day Process Walkthrough

If you're considering switching part of your packaging spend to SurePack, here's exactly what the first 7 days look like — from initial quote to confirmed PO. No surprises, no jargon, no "let me transfer you to our custom team."

Day 1 — Send your spec

You hit our quote form or email Ted at sales@surepackusa.com, or text 702-618-9018. Whichever's fastest. You send:

  • One repeat carton SKU (dimensions, wall structure, current quantity-per-reorder)
  • Your typical reorder cycle (monthly / quarterly / seasonal)
  • What you currently pay (with current supplier, including freight if you know it)

Within 1 business hour you get a quote back from Ted personally — landed price (your dock, including freight), 6–8 week production lead time, and a comparison vs your current spend.

Day 2-3 — You decide whether to test

If the math works, you place a small first PO. We strongly recommend a small validation order before committing to your full annual volume — we want you to verify the box quality matches the spec before you scale up. Common first-order quantities:

  • Stock SKU buyer: 1,000-2,500 units (one pallet quantity)
  • Custom-spec buyer: production sample of 100-500 units

Payment: 50% deposit on PO confirmation, 50% before shipment. Net-30 terms available for established customers with credit application on file.

Day 3 — Production starts

Your PO confirmation triggers our vendor partner to start production. For stock SKUs, this means pulling from existing factory production runs and prepping for container ship. For custom configurations, this is the start of a 5-7 day tooling + sample-approval phase before full-run production.

You get a confirmation email with: PO number, production start date, estimated container loading date, estimated dock arrival date in Las Vegas.

Day 4-7 — You don't think about packaging

This is the point. Once your PO is confirmed and in production, you don't have to babysit it. We handle the vendor communication, freight booking, customs clearance (where applicable), and Las Vegas warehouse receiving.

If anything material changes (vendor schedule slip, freight delay, spec question), Ted emails you the same business day. No surprises.

Week 6-8 — Container lands in Las Vegas

Stock SKUs ship from our Las Vegas warehouse to your dock typically within 2-3 business days of receiving. Custom orders we coordinate the transfer based on your ready-to-receive date.

You get tracking — carrier + PRO number for LTL, standard tracking for parcel. Email when it ships, email when it delivers.

What happens after delivery

Once you've received and validated quality, we set up your repeat-SKU pricing record. Same SKU, same price, same lead time, no re-quoting every quarter.

30 days before your next expected reorder date, Ted pings you with a reorder reminder: "Your stock is at X days of cover — confirm or adjust quantity for next reorder?" You confirm or adjust, we run the next PO. Hands-off reordering.

Warehouse-and-release option (for repeat-volume customers)

If you're ordering 5,000+ units per cycle and want even less inventory friction, we offer a warehouse-and-release program: we hold your custom-spec inventory in our Las Vegas warehouse and ship sub-pallet quantities to your dock on your schedule. You pay only for what releases, not what sits.

This is especially valuable for landscape/seasonal buyers (spring + fall reorder spikes), 3PLs onboarding new clients (don't tie up cash in stock for clients you're still pricing in), and growing D2C brands where forecast accuracy is poor.

What this saves you (real numbers)

For a typical mid-size 3PL spending $50,000/year on stock cartons across 3 hero SKUs:

  • Year 1 cost savings: ~$6,000-8,000 (10-15% under Uline-comparable)
  • Year 1 time savings: ~10 hours not re-quoting, not chasing rush orders
  • Year 1 risk reduction: backup supplier means single-supplier failure no longer breaks your week

The catch (we say this up front)

The math only works if you can plan reorders 60-90 days ahead. If your demand is genuinely unpredictable and you frequently need cartons in 48 hours, Uline is the better answer for those orders. We're the supplier for your predictable repeat-cycle volume — which for most operations is 70%+ of total carton spend.
